One Bag, Two Ways: The Alexander Wang Tai Dopp Kit Bag

It might be a bit early to declare box bags as a trend, but the sight of Victoria Beckham carrying one a little while back and now the appearance of fall’s Alexander Wang Tai Dopp Kit Bag make it seem as though more such bags will come out of the woodwork in the near future. Boxes certainly fit with the emerging trend of petite, streamlined, slightly retro handbags, and if you want to hop on this look before all of your friends know about it, we’ve got a few suggestions – one that plays up the bag’s grey tone, another that accents the creams and beiges. The Bag Alexander Wang Tai Dopp Kitt Bag – It comes in both embossed natural python and black leather, but since mixing patterns is also a fall trend, this seems like a perfect time to wade into those waters a bit and see how things go. The black version, of course, could be mixed into a wardrobe in a similar way to a large black clutch. The closure and structure of this bag make it easily more interesting than any clutch in my closet, though, and I’m betting the same is true for you. That the short handle must be held by hand will make it unwieldy in some daytime situations, but it’s such a cool, different bag that it would be worth the tradeoff. Buy through ShopBop for $795. Daytime – Edgy Helmut Lang Raven Top – This silk and jersey asymmetrical top is full of color inspiration for any number of different outfits, but pairing it with neutrals in different textures allows the subtle pattern and draping to shine. The traces of cream and beige tie in with the bag, and combining the two gives you a relatively safe way to mix prints without looking like a crazy person. Buy through ShopBop for $320.

Want something more luxe than leather? Try sterling silver with Bottega Veneta

Sure, alligator or crocodile versions of the highly collectable Bottega Veneta Knot Clutches might be enough to satisfty the luxury lust for some people, but for those who want something a bit more unique, the Bottega Veneta Sterling Silver Knot Clutch is just the ticket. The idea of a sterling silver box clutch is not exactly a new thing , but as far as I can tell, this is the first such iteration of the famous Knot. In classic Bottega Veneta style, it’s styled to look exactly like one of the brand’s intrecciato knot clutches, right down to the raised textured on some of the “woven” metal strips. Carrying this bag would sort of function like carrying a giant piece of jewelry, although the townside that immediately comes to mind is the unfortunate eventuality of smudgy finger prints on the smooth, shiny metal. I’m already a compulsive glasses-cleaner (I have the little spray in my purse and everything, it’s bad), so I could see myself sitting in the corner of a party with my silver clutch, obsessively wiping it down over and over again with one of those little microfiber cloths. A brushed finish on this bag might have been a wiser choice, but I like the clutch as a showpiece. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $8200.

Are Maison Martin Margiela’s conceptual bags worth the money?

If someone were to tell me that they were going to design a bag based on an oversized jewelry box, that might sound like kind of a bad idea. Surprisingly (or not so surprisingly, depending on how much you follow the brand), Maison Martin Margiela was able to do so with a signature minimalist flair. The Maison Martin Margiela Jewelry Box Clutch might look like it’s supposed to hold a pair of very, very large diamond studs at first, but it’s really meant to hold your night-out necessities. Personally, I’d prefer the giant pair of earrings… This little bag packs a lot of wit into a small package. The interior looks just like the cases that you get when you actually buy a piece of jewelry, as does the domed, sueded exterior. Not only that, but the design seems totally functional as well – it would hold anything that your average box clutch could contain. My initial reaction to this bag was somewhat dubious, but the more I looked at it, the more I warmed up. Until, that is, I got around to reading the description of the materials. As it turns out, the exterior material isn’t real suede – it’s the same fake suede that covers actual jewelry boxes. Although that design choice perhaps scores another point for witty realism, if Margiela wanted to transform a jewelry box into a luxury handbag, the editorial decision to use real suede should have been made.

Rachel Zoe Project: “How do you pose without a train? I mean, it’s tricky.”

As anyone who has watched previous seasons of The Rachel Zoe Project knows, Rachel literally (Rachel’s definition, not the actual definition that exists in objective reality) lives and breathes on awards shows. The first episode of season three was oddly free of any red carpet machinations, but we ran into the Golden Globes face-first last night. There were gowns! And problems! And late fittings! It’s become clear that this show could exist without any narrative at all, because I think we all really watch to see Rachel’s Birkins and the ridiculous dresses and Brad dancing around and trying on the clothes. They could just do that for an hour every week and I’d still watch, plus they wouldn’t have to worry about heavy-handedly trying to remind us all that Rodger is a football-loving, beer-drinking, straight dudebro. None of us care – more Van Cleef, please. Of course things kicked off with a shopping trip to Fred Segal, but Rachel wasn’t feeling was shopportunistic as usual because of the drama of the impending Golden Globes. That doesn’t mean shopping didn’t happen, though – of course it did. Rachel eventually managed to get out of her unreasonably plush bathrobe (does she live in a hotel?) and turned up to find new looks for a “new beginning” with Brad, who she thinks needs to butch things up a little bit. I disagree – I love how delightfully un-butch Brad is, what with his bow ties and retro glasses. It works for him.

Nike SB Blazer Royale Customs

If you have not seen many customized sneakers from the JBF Customs, then you are really missing out on the genuine custom shoes in the sneaker world. So if you have not seen one before, you are very lucky today for you will have your first ever glimpse at this with this blog entry. Here is a new pair that we will look at. This one is called the Nike SB Blazer Royale Customs. These shoes took its inspiration from the majestic robes and some flashy sets of jewelry. Most of its parts like the toe, the tongue, lace panels, swoosh and heels are made from purple. It surrounds the quilted silver mid panel with some holographic effects to it. Nike SB Blazer “Royale” Customs

Every sneaker customizer has a sneaker which they prefer to use as a canvas for their artwork. The Dunk and Air Force 1 are always two of the more popular choices, with the Chuck Taylor being another which some consider the perfect black canvas. JBF Customs is partial to the Nike SB Blazer, having proved it with his last 4 or 5 custom sneakers which were all SB Dunk’s. Chalking up another one, JBF Customs presents us with the Nike SB Blazer “Royale”, a personal project which he designed for his own collection. Inspired by royalty, the Nike SB Blazer “Royale” maintains a look taken from the purple robes and flashy jewelry once worn by kings of years past. The toe, tongue, lace panels, Swoosh and heel are all constructed from Purple suede which surrounds a quilted Silver mid-panel with a holographic effect to it that color shift through every shade of the rainbow depending on light and angle the shoes are viewed. The same material is also seen on the heel tab of the shoe, just without the quilted finish. A crushed Red velvet lines the entire shoe to round off the theme of a king’s robe and red contrast stitching is used to hold it all in place. Marking his work, JBF emboridered his insignia to the tongue and heel. These are defiantly one of the dopest kicks from JBF Customs thus far.

RHNJ: “I’m 11 years old, I don’t wear heels.”

Here we go again. It seems like the more I complain, the more Andy Cohen punishes me for my Housewives heresy. The nightmarish (and not in a good way) Real Housewives of New Jersey insisted on continuing last night, and I sat there and watched it. The whole thing. I’m hoping that you didn’t have to endure a similar indignity. But if you did, I feel like we all need to talk about it. No one should have to suffer through this show alone. We’re here for you. The episode opened with perhaps the only redeeming value this show has left – Teresa and Joe spending actual quality time with their children, doing children-centric things. They played Monopoly and discussed the couple’s impending 10th anniversary, during which Teresa took the opportunity to campaign for a big gift to commemorate the occasion, lest she withhold “hanky panky.” Perhaps it’s telling that those sorts of conversations are actually considered “redeeming” in the context of the show.

3 Reasons Why You Must Visit the New BottegaVeneta.com

Our friends at Bottega Veneta let us in on the project they have been working on for quite some time, the next generation of BottegaVeneta.com . Here are three reasons why you should check it out: A more interactive and luxury shopping experience Part of the reason people love going into a designer boutique is for the shopping experience. The fancy shelves, tangible products, and great feeling of walking out of a store with a big shopping bag. Personally, I appreciate the one-on-one attention and the luxury feel of the stores I shop in. However, with our lives getting busier and fancy boutiques being often too far away, we turn to online shopping. Bottega Veneta is known for the experience their stores offer customers. One of the main reasons for the site overhaul was to give their online shoppers the most luxurious and personal shopping experience possible. What matters most to me are the visual aspects of a site. I want to see an item in large, clean, and crisp pictures. Bottega Veneta now offers this, along with multiple views and even video looks.
