Manolo says, it is the Kate Spade Wedge ! Despite the three-inch wedge heels on her black patent leather shoes, after hours of walking, Ms. Saujani, a former hedge-fund general counsel and a successful political fund-raiser, seemed as calmly cheerful as she did at the outset of the day. Finally, as we returned to her office, I asked: About those shoes? “They’re the Kate Spade wedges,” she said, sagging slightly, as if she had only just then been reminded that she had feet. “They’re these politician-woman shoes.” She had gotten the tip from someone who worked for Hillary Rodham Clinton. They are apparently something of an “it” shoe right now for women in politics: Ms. Saujani said that Kathleen M. Rice, who is running for attorney general, also wore them (a photograph on Ms. Rice’s Facebook page bears that out). The chief of staff for a prominent woman in Congress told me that she, too, religiously relied on her Kate Spade wedge heels (though she spoke on the condition of anonymity because she preferred not to be known for her brand of footwear).

Alaia cutout calf hair platform pumps $2375 via Net-a-porter. These layered, laser-cut overlay booties almost make me wish I could get married all over again just to have an excuse to own them. They visually scream, “Unforgettable fall wedding.” Lucky, indeed, is the gal who scores these beautiful ankle boots to wear under her wedding gown. Just look at the close-up detail on these: They are breathtakingly beautiful, and not a rhinestone to be found anywhere. With the help of Concepts , one of their loyal distributors in the US, Clarks Originals will be bringing their classic Weaver Boot back to the US. The Weaver Boot, the cousin to the iconic Wallabee, hasn’t been available in the US in over a decade, but thanks to a recent collaboration with Concepts, US consumers will soon have the opportunity to snag a pair once again. With quality being their objective and refusing to deliver anything but the best, Concepts had the outer shell of the Clarks Weaver Boot constructed from premium unlined waxed Italian suede in two different colors – Piombu Grey and Torba Brown – with premium leather used to line the foot beds. The shops “Double C” logo is embossed onto the foot bed and visible across the tongue, while their abbreviated “CNCPTS” branding is spotted on the lower outside heel. If you’re interested in purchasing a piece of history and snatching up a pair of the first Clarks Weaver Boot release in the US in over 10 years, watch for a release this coming Friday, September 3rd, 2010, in limited quantities through Concept’s flagship store on 37 Brattle Street in Cambridge, MA. Phone orders will be welcome for those outside the area. Plenty of detailed photos are included after the jump, along with a video Concepts made while visiting the Clarks sample room of Angelo Scuderi, a Clarks Originals shoe maker. Looking at these wedges from Bottega Veneta, I feel like they are taking a page from the types of styles normally seen coming from Marc Jacobs or John Fluevog*. These could easily have looked awkward and unbalanced, but the smoothed-out edges and swept-forward angles allow these to be that rare, successful, blend of a chunky and solid heel – while still being wholly feminine overall. While nobody is likely to describe these as ‘delicate’, they do quite nicely manage to be both elegant and modern. Bottega Veneta suede wedge ankle boots $870 via Saks.com In a similar, softened-wedge style, Bottega Veneta is also offering this lower-shaft ankle-boot. But, I don’t like it nearly as much as the brown suede style shown above. For some reason, this lower bootie doesn’t seem quite as well-balanced and successful in it’s overall silhouette. Perhaps overall outfit presentation would help to correct this potential issue? Bottega Veneta scalloped suede ankle boots $780 via Saks.com I’m so glad to find more and more designers that are willing to play with the overall form of a shoe and finding that there are indeed ways to get both sex appeal and walk-ability to play nice together all in the same shoe. Not that we don’t love our occasional stilettos, but wedges usually have fantastic stability; making wedges this sexy is a win in my book. *For those of you unfamiliar with Fluevog shoes, the main style that comes to mind when I see the Bottega Veneta’s are ‘The LA’ Fluevog line – which is an adaptation of the earlier and near-iconic Grand National Fluevog boots.

What if I told you that you could wear heels up to five and six inches without any pain? You would say I was crazy, right?!? These Heels Were Made for Walking These miracle heels were created with special padding to help give extra support and manufactured to prevent knee and back pain. Literally, these heels are made to walk in for hours without any problem. Designed to keep feet and legs relaxed, these dream shoes are becoming a hot commodity for heel lovers everywhere. After hearing about these foot fantasies, my first thought was “they MUST look horrible!” Surprisingly, they are adorable! From pumps to boots to wedges, these shoes are gorgeous! This designer had styles I had never seen before and now I want ALL of them. Drawbacks Two problems with these super shoes, one, there is so much to choose from that I don’t even know where to begin. From color to styles, I literally love them all! Secondly, they are a little on the pricey side. See for yourself, go to tarynrose.com, no more than a Jimmy Choo and just as cute. I suggest the leopard print Fierce (shown above) and black and white plaid Dafin.
