The news of Michael Jackson’s death has traversed the world with unequivocal speed, leaving many people shocked and saddened. Already, loyal fans have begun paying tribute to Jackson’s legacy – his music, fashion, and controversy – yet, amidst everything he’s known for, few knew that Jackson was also an innovative shoe designer, of sorts. In fact, it goes even further than that. Apparently, Jackson is the owner of a patented shoe design . Michael Jackson’s name is the first of three on a U.S. patent for creating an anti-gravity illusion by employing the use of special shoes (see Jackson’s Smooth Criminal ). Basically, the heel of the shoe contains a wedge that locks into an anchor on stage, thus allowing the wearer to lean forward beyond what is (typically) physically possible. While, unfortunately,  Shoefly doesn’t carry these (very) limited-edition Jackson shoes, we do have a number of styles that exhibit a certain “flare” reminiscent of the late performer
