We talk a lot about our eco-friendly shoes here on the Planet Blog. We often talk about brands like Simple Shoes or Rafters sandals that are incorporating eco-friendly and recycled materials, but what makes these materials eco-friendly? Last year, the utterly sexy IT shoe was the YSL Tribute Platform T-Strap Sandal . Julianne Moore was the first celebrity to wear them back in January 2008, then every celebrity from Eva Longoria, to the Kardashian sisters, seemed to snap them up in every colour. Everyone then moved onto the YSL Trib Two heels. All except Olivia Palermo. I have a pair of beige, blue and coral striped Marc Jacobs heels, which I had for 5 years, known as my “summer heels”. Last week one of them snapped, and I still haven’t had the courage to throw them away, so I understand how you can be attached to one pair of heels. Since April 29, Olivia has attended 6 events, wearing pretty florals, pastels colours, paisley prints, LBDs, a sequined jacket, and a black tuxedo jacket, but the heels have remained the same.

This is the first time in a long time I have LOVED what Rihanna is wearing head-to-toe. She wowed onlookers in a sexy black and nude strapless Alexander Wang Pre-Fall 2009 dress, with Gucci Fall 2009 heels. Some might say she was a little overdressed for a mere afternoon visit to her pal, Kanye West, but I say she looks fabulous. Soft, feminine and beautiful. Whilst having some much needed retail therapy, hitting several boutiques including Intermix in New York, Rihanna wore a Matthew Williamson gathered leather coat , as a belted dress. The look was paired with black knee high boots, and reptile accessories

Elsa Pataky was one of the many glamourous celebrities in the front row at Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall 2009 presentation in Milan, back in March. She wore a Dolce & Gabbana barqoue dress from the Spring 2009 collection, which was blooming with a gorgeous beige, gold and rose floral print, which she wore with gold platform heels. Dita Von Teese hosted a party at the VIP Room, Point Croisette during Cannes Film Festival, wearing the same dress, but with a twist. She opted for one of the rosette jeweled belts from the Spring 2009 collection to add a bit more punch to her look, but those fuschia satin heels would have sufficed. NO, I haven’t abandoned this blog (why the hell do I feel guilty because I’m not posting things here everyday? I don’t know. Sucks though). I’m just taking my time to absorb things, and not let fashion play its magical trick on me – turning otherwise normal people into ADD-ridden consumerist psychos that move on to the next thing before they can even remember what they wanted 30 seconds ago (I’m a bit like that, but nothing compared to some twitterers who discuss which shoes/dress/hat/underwear they’re going to buy ALL DAY LONG). No. Just because this is about clothes that everything HAS to be about clothes, okay? So last night I was looking at my bookshelves for inspiration and I found something that The Boyfriend bought a few months ago and never had a chance to look at.

Balmain has been everywhere recently, from it’s trendy crystal embellished jackets, to bottom skimming mini dresses. Beyonce is a big fan. We’ve seen her in Barcelona wearing a white leather Balmain vest. Also in New York wearing a stunning black gown for her ‘Obsessed’ movie premiere, and out to dinner in New York wearing a Seargeant Pepper-style jacket. She’s currently in London, where she was spotted headed to Bungalow 8 nightclub on Sunday night. This time she was wearing a Balmain white linen military-style jacket. This isn’t so much of a trophy jacket like the last heavily embellished Balmain jacket she wore, this one is much more versatile
